Questions
What are Eyelash Extensions?
Lash extensions are semi-permanent, synthetic fibers that are applied strand by strand with specially formulated non-irritating glue to your own lashes to enhance your eye shape without causing any pain, discomfort when applied properly. Traditional false eyelashes, which you remove after each use, are applied directly to the skin and have pre-designed depth and layers that don’t take your unique eye shape into account. Extensions, on the other hand, are attached to the natural lashes and can be customized to create specific depth and elongation to your eye shape for the exact effect you crave.
Is It Safe to Have Eyelash Extensions?
The biggest myth is that lash extensions ruin your own lashes. They do not! If you follow the after-care instructions carefully and take breaks when needed, they do not ruin the health of your natural lashes. Be sure not to rub your eyes or tug or pull on the extensions because this can cause lash loss and even damage to your natural lashes. At Burte Lash, we take extra care to not clump lashes together, to not apply them to the skin, or to not damage your natural lashes with an improper application. The eyes always remain closed while receiving this procedure.
How Long Do They Last?
The average human eye sheds 3-5 natural eyelashes per day, this is 42-70 lashes within 2 weeks, this is why we recommend fills every 2 to 3 weeks to maintain their fullness. If you follow the after-care instructions carefully, you could extend your fill-in appointments to 3-4weeks.
How Long Does the Procedure Take?
The lash extension application can take anywhere from 1 – 2.5 hours, depending on the service you choose. Volume lashes take twice as long as individual lashes when applying. This is a meticulous procedure that requires patience and concentration. Therefore, it is important not to rush the process so that you can leave with a perfect set of lashes! You will be relaxing with your eyes closed, and you will feel no pain as this is a non-invasive procedure. Many of our clients are so relaxed that they often fall asleep!
What Adhesive Do You Use?
We offer the best in safety and quality when choosing an adhesive. We carry formaldehyde, preservative, and latex-free adhesive. Burte Lash adhesives are made in South Korea and are a low-viscosity, very fast drying/curing adhesive with just enough flexibility between the natural lash and the extension for a soft natural feel without causing irritation. We also carry hypo-allergenic glue for clients who have sensitive eyes/skin. Although, keep in mind that hypo-allergenic glue is not as long-lasting as regular glue.
What is the adhesive is made of?
Ethyl cyanoacrylate, Cyanoacrylate, Poly Alkyl, Methacrylate, Poly isocyanate, Pigmen, Aqua, N-methyl, Pyrrolidone, Carbon Black.
Can I Have My Eyelash Extensions Removed?
Yes, your extensions can be removed at any time. The removal procedure takes anywhere between 15-30 minutes using a special type of gel remover on the extensions. The lash technician will leave them on for a few minutes and after that, the extensions loosen up from your natural lashes. Then we go ahead clean the lash extensions off one by one with two micro brushes or tweezers without causing any discomfort. Before you know it, the extensions will be removed.
Who Wears Eyelash Extensions?
Not just for celebrities, normal ladies love eyelash extensions, and many can’t live without them! From a highly visible business professional to a bride on her special day, to a stay-at-home-mom who just doesn’t have time for makeup, anyone who wants longer lashes that have the appearance of wearing mascara will love eyelash extensions. The extensions come in a variety of lengths, curls, and styles so you can have the fully customized lashes that you have dreamed of!
If I Only Have a Fewer or Shorter Natural Lashes, Can I Still Get Lash Extensions?
For those clients with shorter natural lashes, having extensions is a perfect solution to give your eyelashes a beautiful volume in fullness and length. We suggest doing 1-3mm longer extensions than your natural lashes with the individual flat lashes. As mentioned previously, flat lashes are suited best for those with very short or fewer lashes. On special occasions or for more fullness, we highly recommend you try our Russian Volume lashes.

What is the after-care instruction?
For the first 24 hours: Avoid getting your lashes wet. Do not apply eye cream around the lash area
After 24 hours: Do not go to the Sauna/steam room in the first 72hours. Comb your lashes daily with a brush in an upward motion. Avoid touching or rubbing your eyelash extension. Do not use oil-based eye products, creams, or waterproof mascara. Use only water-based makeup & makeup remover. Remove makeup around the eye with a cotton swab each night.
Do not perm, tint, or use an eyelash curler. To maintain the full look, please schedule touch-ups every 2-3weeks.

Who should not get lash extensions?
An individual with an allergy to adhesives or cyanoacrylate adhesives. An individual who has undergone chemotherapy over the last six months, or an individual who does not have natural eyelashes may not be eligible to have eyelash extensions applied. If you suffer from an eye infection or a degenerative disease of the eye, we cannot apply lash extensions to your eyes.

Can I still wear eye makeup?
Yes, but most clients don’t even feel the need to wear eye makeup. Although, you can still use eyeliner and eye shadows for an even fierce and glamorous look. Before purchasing or applying your eye makeup, make sure it is not waterproof, liquid, or oil-based as these products will break down the adhesive. Each night, please be sure to cleanse off all the eye make-up with q-tip and oil-free make-up remover to ensure you are free of possible eye infections. It is your responsibility to keep your lashes clean since your lash expert can’t go to your home each night to clean them for you.

Can I wear mascara?
Mascara is NOT recommended, as this will break down the adhesive, clump up the extensions, and causing them to come off earlier than expected or even coming off with your natural lashes. Therefore, please DO NOT use mascara. If you must use it, please make sure the mascara is water-based and can be easily removed with an oil-free eye make-up cleanser. On the day you come for a refill or new set, please DO NOT use any eye makeup, especially mascara! You can wear mascara on the bottom lashes which gives a really beautiful effect, however; be sure to remove all your eye makeup with a water-based cleanser before you go to sleep or your makeup will goop up the base of your extensions and cause your extensions to come off prematurely.
